Just a quick update… I came up short on my hands / week goal for week #2, primarily because I got called into jury duty on the last day and was unable to play any hands. I would say it was a blessing in disguise, as I was beginning to feel a little bit run down on poker. Doing something completely different was a really nice mental break.
I am at around 40,000 hands for the month, which is more than I averaged / month in 2010. I have managed to keep a positive winrate (BB/100) which is obviously what I want to do, but unfortunately I have ran just awfully at 50/100 so I am down a decent chunk of change.
Here is a sampling of the pain:
PokerStars Limit Hold’em, $100.00 BB (6 handed) –
Preflop: Hero is Button with A, J
UTG raises, 2 folds, Hero 3-bets, 1 fold, BB calls, UTG calls
Flop: (9.5 SB) A, J, 7 (3 players)
BB checks, UTG checks, Hero bets, 1 fold, UTG calls
Turn: (5.75 BB) 2 (2 players)
UTG checks, Hero bets, UTG raises, Hero 3-bets, UTG caps, Hero calls
River: (13.75 BB) Q (2 players)
UTG bets, Hero calls
Total pot: $1575 (15.75 BB) | Rake: $3
Hero mucked A, J (two pair, Aces and Jacks).
UTG had A, 9 (flush, Ace high).
Outcome: UTG won $1572
PokerStars Limit Hold’em, $100.00 BB (5 handed) –
Preflop: Hero is Button with J, A
1 fold, MP raises, Hero 3-bets, 2 folds, MP calls
Flop: (7.5 SB) 6, A, 3 (2 players)
MP checks, Hero bets, MP raises, Hero calls
Turn: (5.75 BB) 10 (2 players)
MP bets, Hero calls
River: (7.75 BB) J (2 players)
MP bets, Hero raises, MP 3-bets, Hero calls
Total pot: $1375 (13.75 BB) | Rake: $2
Hero mucked J, A (two pair, Aces and Jacks).
MP had 6, 6 (three of a kind, sixes).
Outcome: MP won $1373
It is really annoying to get rivered / coolered endlessly at the highest stakes you play, but whatever. Also, please don’t worry. This isn’t going to become a bad beat blog, I promise! 🙂
I am just going to keep working hard and striving for my process-oriented goals. The results will work themselves out eventually. The nice thing about playing so many hands is that the “long run” comes a lot quicker than if I only put in 30k hands / month.
Thanks for reading and good luck at the tables!
