Just a quick update… I came up short on my hands / week goal for week #2, primarily because I got called into jury duty on the last day and was unable to play any hands. I would say it was a blessing in disguise, as I was beginning to feel a little bit run down on poker. Doing something completely different was a really nice mental break.
I am at around 40,000 hands for the month, which is more than I averaged / month in 2010. I have managed to keep a positive winrate (BB/100) which is obviously what I want to do, but unfortunately I have ran just awfully at 50/100 so I am down a decent chunk of change.
Here is a sampling of the pain:
———————————
PokerStars Limit Hold’em, $100.00 BB (6 handed) –

Hero mucked A, J (two pair, Aces and Jacks).
UTG had A, 9 (flush, Ace high).
Outcome: UTG won $1572

It is really annoying to get rivered / coolered endlessly at the highest stakes you play, but whatever. Also, please don’t worry. This isn’t going to become a bad beat blog, I promise! 🙂
I am just going to keep working hard and striving for my process-oriented goals. The results will work themselves out eventually. The nice thing about playing so many hands is that the “long run” comes a lot quicker than if I only put in 30k hands / month.
Thanks for reading and good luck at the tables!
Been there many times, in fact there right now with the 100 games as you unfortunately know. It’s frustrating but keep plugging away, I actually think the 50 games are easier to beat than the 30 because of the .5 BB/100 difference in rake.
